2017 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Baldwin County completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Baldwin County finished sixth in Class 6A region one with a 3-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2007 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, the Baldwin County football program has struggled with a record of 16-54. Over the past 25 seasons, Baldwin County has managed to compile a record of 124-151. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 6A and 243rd in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Nathan McDaniel who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-16 over the past three seasons at Baldwin County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McDaniel. Coach McDaniel's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 14-16 (46.7%). The Baldwin County Tigers will play in Class 6A region one during the 2017 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Baldwin County has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2007 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Northview on Friday, August 25 at Rip Hewes Stadium. Last year the Northview Cougars finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 6A region two. The Cougars closed out the regular season with a loss to Charles Henderson by a score of 39-20. Baldwin County and Northview have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 4-8-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2016 with Baldwin County winning by a score of 35-15. Baldwin County returns 6A All-State Senior offensive lineman Tyler Jernigan. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
